SECTION 04 — SAFE HANDLING

Four Rules of
Firearm Safety

01

Treat Every Firearm as Loaded

Handle every firearm as if it is loaded — even after you have confirmed it is not. This habit prevents the accidental discharge that "unloaded" firearms cause.

02

Never Point at What You Won't Destroy

Control your muzzle at all times. Keep it pointed in a safe direction — downrange, at the ground — every moment the firearm is in your hands.

03

Finger Off Trigger Until Ready to Fire

Your trigger finger stays outside the guard and alongside the frame until your sights are on target and you have made a deliberate decision to fire.

04

Know Your Target and Beyond

Identify your target clearly. Be certain of what lies beyond — walls and vehicles do not stop most rounds. You are responsible for every bullet you fire.
